Melissa J Hinton, DNP
Dr. Melissa J Hinton is a Doctorate Nurse Practitioner with board certifications in Family Medicine, Substance Use Disorders, and training in both Acute and Pain Medicine. She has almost 35 years of experience in emergency, intensive care, Life Flight nursing.She has specialty training in Pulmonary Medicine as well. Dr. Hinton's extensive experience makes her a valuable and respected practitioner with the ability to deliver exceptional outcomes. She champions women in healthcare, underserved and diverse populations, and actively works with insurance and legislation as an advocate for best patient care. She delivers honest, comprehensive, and compassionate care from a "whole-person" approach for better patient quality of life. The patient-provider relationship is a primary tenant of her practice. Dr. Hinton strives to stay abreast of emerging medical information which gives her the ability to focus on a medically sound practice. Dr. Hinton has been instrumental in winning monumental legislation in the past several years for patient choice of providers and access to healthcare in Utah. She was raised in Southern Utah and has been a featured musician in the southwestern states as a vocalist and pianist as well as acting in musical theater. Melissa and her husband have 5 children and 14 grandies.She is excited to join Desert Edge Medical and give personalized, attentive healthcare to each of her patients.
